What Kind of Training Accreditation Do I Need for HIPAA & OSHA Compliance?

It’s important to know that no official “accreditation” is required to satisfy HIPAA or OSHA training rules – only proper training and documentation.

For both HIPAA and OSHA, a documented training certificate is an acceptable audit record, even without an external “accreditation” stamp.

HIPAA Audit Compliance

The HHS Office for Civil Rights emphasizes that HIPAA requirements are flexible and “no single standardized program” is mandated.

In practice, covered entities must train their workforce and document completion; your training certificate suffices as proof.

In fact, there is no HIPAA certification or accreditation that is approved by the government – auditors care that policies were covered, not that you used a particular vendor.

The key is to show in an audit that each employee completed relevant training (eLearn’s completion certificates do exactly that).

OSHA Audit Compliance

Similarly for OSHA: OSHA does not certify individuals. Employees get a certificate of completion from the training provider, which serves as documentation that they attended the required class.

In an OSHA inspection, employers just need to prove they provided effective training in hazards; having certificates of completion from courses (such as ours) is normally sufficient.

In short: for both HIPAA and OSHA, a documented training certificate from eLearn Compliance Academy is an acceptable audit record, even without an external “accreditation” stamp.
